Here are some basic beliefs worthy of your study:
John 1:16-17 -- "From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ."
Romans 5:15 -- "But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!"
Ephesians 2:4-5 -- "But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions - it is by grace you have been saved."
The Word of God is our blueprint for living.
1Peter 1:25 -- "but the word of the Lord stands forever"
Psalm 119:9 -- "How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word."
Psalm 119:11 -- "I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you."
Psalm 119:105 -- "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path."
Hebrews 4:12 -- "For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."
The Plan of Salvation contains steps of obedience to bring us forgiveness of our sins and lead us to our heavenly home.
Believe -
Mark 16:16 -- "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned."
Repent -
Acts 2:38 -- "Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
Confess -
Matthew 10:32-33 -- "Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven."
Be Baptized -
Romans 6:1-4 -- "What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life."
Live the Christian Life -
Ephesians 4:22-24 -- "You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness." (Also read Ephesians 4 - 5:21)
The Gift of the Holy Spirit is the presence of Christ given to all Christians.
John 14:26 -- "But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind your of everything I have said to you."
Romans 8:1-4 -- "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man, in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit." Galatians 5:16-18 -- "So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law." (continue reading Galatians 5:19-26)
The Return of Christ is the hope in which all Christians eagerly wait.
Acts 1:6-11 -- "So when they met together, they asked him, ‘Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel’? He said to them: ‘It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.’ After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. ‘Men of Galilee,’ they said, ‘why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven."
1 Peter 1:3-5 -- "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade - kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God?s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time."
